SLAM-f*ing-BALL!

Hopefully most of you have downloaded the 2nd Deathball Map pack. In there, is DB-SlamBall. Back in the days of 1.8, I wrote a new gametype to make deathball play a little more like basketball, just for this map. That was lost forever when my old hard drive crashed and burned.

It was a bit of a buggy POS, so my final plan is to rewrite the whole thing when db2.0 comes out.

However, I thought it was a damn shame that ppl playing the map were only getting half the fun, so I took a couple of hours to hack it together for DB1.9 and here it is:

So how is it different to deathball?
-Normal Goals are worth 2 points
-Volleys and Dunks are worth 3 points
-Goals scored from own half are worth 3 points
-Couple of variables have been tweaked to allow for faster volleying
-No Keepers

suggestions for next slamball version:

new maps
skin for the ball (basketball prolly)
player skins (i know it won't happen, but it's an idea)
disable boosting at least for teammates, and at least weaken it for enemies, so it's more like a push than taking them out of the play completely
game keeps going, no ball respawning at middle, team that got scored on gets ball under own basket
jump ball to start game
replay support
new hud

Some excellent idas there Hoju.

-Anyone is free to make their own slamball map, but I will prolly have a go at making a couple of new ones.
-Definitely gonna re-skin the ball.
-If db2.0 has shiny shiny skinning support, I'll see what I can do.
-The boosting thing would seriously affect the gameplay, but I'll see how tweaking about with it goes. You might be onto something.
-Ball respawn under the net. Oooh I like this idea. I don't know easy it would be to code in, but I'll sure as hell give it my best shot.
-Jump ball start. I like this one too. I'll have to see if it's possible to start the ball off with some z-axis momentum.
-Replay support is already there in this 1.5 version, although it has a couple of minor bugs.
-Afaik, a new hud is coming with db2.0.

*sniff* I was one of the first to test this map and the gametype, but I'm not named in the readme :(;)
