Why i think dribbling as it is should be left in 1.9

1. it if fun to screw around with

2. the way the game is played today it has very little use

3. the times that it does have use can easly be stoped by a good boost

4. it is fun

5. after ppl get used to it most ppl will realize it isn't that effective and just use it when they are screwing around having fun

6. it is close to impossible to juke a guy with so it isn't a problem (if you manage to juke a guy with this then you deserve the extra space you have earned)

7. did i meantion it is fun

oo for all you soccer/football fans out there it is a lot like soccer dribbling so therefore it is good :)

take out dribble (again) and db will fail, miserably.

as berk said on irc, dribble was the only thing that was gonna save 1.9

Too much work for davidm

and it will confuse players. We need a STABLE db version, not a db version with 12132131 change server side so players will be confused when getting in... I think dribbling is cool, even if I never used it. It adds more variety to the game, so I dont see why it is bad... If you dont want people getting bored, you should try to expand and not diminish what appears in the next versions...

My canadian 2 cent anyway, so, not meaning much compared to euro :).

What it comes down to is that the people making the game dont care what NA wants. Its a euro mod, made for the euro people. If the euros dont want dribbling, it goes.

Instead of opening opportunity for the o, it gets easier and easier to play d with every version. They want 1-0 soccer games where its a marathon to get a goal.

LOOKS LIKE HE HIT THE SPOT WIF THAT TRUTH

And that is the general consensus that I believe is in our community.

plainly said but he's got a point.

NA want high scoring match, and euro want low scoring match
with the same db versions. (Looking at dbl score this season, we can see the trend confirming this)

Euro play more defensively than us (use more pbox camping, and weaker counter attack), while NA are more open.

Seems that davidm changes stuff that majorly tends to the gameplay of the european way. Not like he has ever ventured outside his closed realm and played a different pickup on our servers.

I have... you can't please everyone because of the difference in play styles (I'm sure I've said that a millions times over the past few weeks  ). What do you want done about it?

Davidm to come pug (or at least spec) some NA game, instead of being confined to the euro territory (and blaming bad ping)? I never saw davidm speccing or playing an NA game in the 1.8 period, while I played some euro pickup to see the diff in style...

epic is in NA right ( honestly don't know)? if they are he should change it for NA more so he will win the contest ;).

but i don't know it seems to me that both communities were pretty happy with 1.8 minus the deflect randomness and speed and the volleying from really high up. so fix volleying from high up with the lower power the higher you are and reduce the speed of deflect, add replays and dribbling and i think most ppl would be happy. am i wrong?

Yes, apparently :). Ask most euros and they'll want broomsticks removed, ask most americans and they'll say stay in. And hardly anyone wants dribbling back :). But mostly you're right.

um if you get rid of the ablity to volley from the broomstick euro will still have a problem with it?

and who has a big problem with dribbling. if they do read my arguements for it and then explain to me why it hurts game play @ all minus egos who will ego no matter what.

I have a problem with the cheapness of the trick - so long as there's a bit of skill involved i don't mind but atm it seems like the last resort for teams who can't score any other way (and is fairly easy to pull off = lots of pretty unfair goals because teams tend to whore it). So because you now have to primary-pass to do it I'm fine with it... of course in NA play it's different, but I've said that a thousand and one times tonight so...

PS: With that, I think I'll go to bed, it's now 5:30 AM over here

PPS: And again with the dribbling i refer you to previous arguments

um if you get rid of the ablity to volley from the broomstick euro will still have a problem with it?<----you didn't asnwer this i think... is it still cheap without being able to volley hard?

but this dribbling is completely different the old arguements against dribbling don't apply

w00t i get the last word :) :P
