There's no room for anything but fast hard action in this enclosure. It's a small map built for speed and gameplay. Not much eye candy but you won't have time to admire the sites anyway.

The links above takes you to a site where you can view a screenshot(s) and download the map if you choose.

You can also download the map from FasterFlies.com : http://www.fasterfiles.com/pafiledb.php ... ile&id=590

Three words: Frames per second.

SmallEnclosure is a small volley whore map. Built for great gameplay with the intention of delivering as much FPS as possible. Volley lovers should enjoy the angled side walls near the goals and angled ceiling which add more and different set-up opportunities for your teammates and yourself. The size of this map make online play very fast paced and fun. Hope you enjoy.

i have a pretty bad computer and pull playable FPS on maps like cube and novermber (with weather effect son and everything).

lights, texture variations, static meshes, shadows.. those dont affect FPS very much.

who wants fps when there's nothing to look at?
as it is, that map should be a Normal detail map, an option for high and higher/st details would be good. (so we dont all feel like we're back in UT, not that that's bad, but i mena it is ut2003, the tech is there, use it).

My decision to limit any "eye candy" for this map was based on people I know who found the old smallcube less playable than other maps. They had difficulty playing such a tight map packed with people. The old SmallCube was kinda plain itself but, on my system, I had higher FPS on SmallEnclosure than SmallCube. This is what I wanted for this map.

I also ran a test server with the beta version of this map. I received a lot of positive comments from the many players who joined. I also saw it running on another server. So right or wrong, I kept this map basic for a specific purpose. I hope it will benefit the people it was intended to benefit.

This map does have a different goal, post sound, goal events, and angled walls and ceiling. I did modify one of epic's textures for the goal areas which I think look good.

Yes, this map looks kinda plain and the screenshot makes it look worse than it is. However, I don't think that will effect peoples enjoyment of playing this tight fast paced map online.

Twig, static meshes archive in your graphic's cards memory for multiple usage in a map. Unless your overflow the buffer (32mb on older vid cards) it wont even add a spec of FPS loss.

hmm, i think you don't need 10 screens of a map which looks the same everywhere :P

This is a very small map about the size of smallcube. It was designed to be primarily a volley only map like smallcube. It was also designed to delivered better performance than smallcube at normal settings (which takes out all of the detail). I did this because I know people who have trouble playing smallcube volley only online with 10 players. They lag enough to make volleying near impossible. That said, Small Enclosure is a plain map on purpose. I added angled side wall and ceilings to make the gameplay a little different. I ran a test server with this map and received a lot of positive comments. This map is all about delivering online gamplay. It wasn't meant to be graphically intense, It was meant to be a intense to play.
