DB-Trialx

Post by Goldeneye »

A short trial to test your deathball skills.

Currently it's more a test to see what might be sensible for such a map
and what scripts might be needed to pull it off. I know there was DB-Skill,
but that required a referee to monitor you.
The final goal would be to build a training map (or multiple) that helps
introducing new players to the art of deathball, but also might be fun for
veterans when noone else is around to play.

So if you have comments, ideas, contributions, whatever, feel free to reply...

Note: The map should work in network play, although the 'Mover-Room' is a bit
itchy there.

Install:
DB-Trialx.ut2 --> ut2004/deathball/maps
DBTrial.u --> ut2004/deathball/system
(If you installed DB-KeeperTrial before, keep that DBTrial.u)

Run:
Start deathball, choose botmatch, choose map 'DB-Trialx', play.

PS: did i mention it's ugly?

edit: updated DBTrial.u in the zip

Really good so far, Goldeneye, especially like the final room so far, I find that really useful ^^

A good room might be a keeper room, where the player has to save some shots? Or save them into an exact spot. Also... something to practice passing, maybe where the player is forced to stay in one spot and pass it over some moving obstacles to another 'player' or spot.

Really decent idea, cool ^^

Quite fun, even if the two last shots in the shooting room require more luck than skill :D And the map has a weird notion of what's in the targets and what's not :P
And as motig said it lacks a passing and a keeping room.

Nice idea, really.

keeping and passing is definitly something i'd like to test as well, but i'm not sure how...
also catching might be something worth a test.

also, what mode do you prefer?
adventure-style like it's now - so only advance if you solve the task or should you just get points depending on how well you do like in db-skill?

@Mult: no, the last room is an infinite loop :D
