I PROMISE NO POPPY UP THINGS
what does it feel like to take a hallucinogen?

I largely moved away from that after 10 minutes though :p felt like I had more 'important' things to do
(work on myself, 'practice' some philosophy, generally just thinking about stuff)
Just to clarify all this though..it's all a matter of how you want the experience to be.
People have to understand that the effects of many hallucinogens (e.g. shrooms) all come from inside yourself.
Reality is still the same, and you're the same person..everything you experience was already inside of you
(This actually includes the chemical that causes the effects of the mushrooms, the only thing they do is stop a certain chemical inside your brain from exercising negative feedback on another chemical inside your brain..which causes you to hallucinate
<-- I might be wrong about exact details, but I do know that the active chemical comes from inside your own brain)
So it's only natural that you can affect the trip by shifting your focus to the stuff you think is important
To me, it isn't a partydrug..I did my best to read some poems (Coleridge, mostly) and some Jung
It was a very insightful experience to me, and the most important thing to me is to be able to reach that state of acceptance, natural piety and utter altruism repeatedly, and - hopefully, eventually - consistently (and I have, in the past, experienced this state before! So, as I said, it was all within me and part of my personality in the first place)!
Taking drugs (i.e. alcohol, coffee, marihuana, psychoactive mushrooms) is one thing, but I think the goal should be to be able to reach insights and take the wise lessons into your 'sober' life.
