Old men gamers....

Post by Rhinosaur »

Hey guys.....
Long time, no post. :)
As you may know, I am no spring chicken. At 32, I am even on the plus side of the "average" age of the gamer at 28.
When I play DB, I always get a kick out of hearing things like "I have to get back to school", or "my Dad needs the comp".
I can't help but feel like a relic out there with all of these kids. Not taking anything away from them; many of them are fine players and genuinely nice guys, I just wonder about the pros and cons of each age.
Some ideas;
Young pros: Good reflexes, hand-eye is sharp, hyper-aggressive, lots of free time (assuming they don't care about girls and school). Any more?
Young Cons: No cash for 1337 comp, school, parents, siblings, using too much time. More?
Older Pros: Cash for 1337 comp, no parents, time (assuming one has achieved at least the monetary trappings of success in life), experience, patience. More?
Older cons: Wife, kids (both if married) perhaps no cash 'cause of high-maintenance wife and private school for Leopold, work, responsibility. More?
Well, I am sure there are many more for each catagory. I am interested in what you think...post your age if you wish....it may help in understanding your ideas....
See you on the pitch....

Laff, back down Wolf. At nearly 29 myself, I laugh when I see somebody say, "Sorry gotta go. Working on a report". Just reminds me of that time eons ago when there was such a thing as homework. Then again, I have to go pay taxes and that little twerp don't.

I find it incredibly funny when I get called a 'noob'... I'm 32 and been playing and making levels for 3D games since Doom!
Seems so long ago now... :rolleyes:

29 and married, no kids yet. The Wife is pretty cool about my gaming habit. I get my game on pretty often. Just gotta remember to spend a little quality time here and there. And also apologize randomly. 8P
