Australian Entry in NA DB League?

Post by pok »

Due to the Great Admin Exodus of '04, the Australian Deathball community has been somewhat crippled without a league server, and as such, the remaining dedicated players have banded together, with the intention of joining your national league.

TEAM: TEAM HAM (+HAM)

Players:
1. PedPed/Pok
2. Cirian
3. Eclipsor
4. YoYo
5. Bonkers
6. God
7. Franko
8. Bullseye
9. Alars
10. Demolution
11. Blackstar
12. Vulpes
13. Space_Cowboy

(We recruited alot of members so we'll be more reliable on working with the American timezone)

but to reply to this - the NADBL welcomes anyone that wants to play but they need to understand all matches are played on North American servers, and usually between 7-10pm EST, which might be difficult for aus's to go with. i'd suggest instead of making a team of all aussies find some na players to join in or join other teams already established to prevent forfiets because of scheduling problems.

New York (U.S.A. - New York) Friday, 4 March 2005 at 7PM - 10PM

Sydney (Australia - New South Wales) Saturday, 5 March 2005 at 11AM - 2PM

That should be a good timeslot to work with, most of us would be able to make it. Which days are the matches usually played?

Also, what are you pings on the US servers? Try out the BuD and UFO public servers to test it out and make sure it's playable.

We have a EURO team in the league but they are generally able to ping in the low 100's and sometimes even in the 90's. A few of them can handle close to 150 but really anything higher then that and you're going to have lots of trouble.

If the pings seem ok, you should then come by #dbmixer on irc.gamesurge.net and play some pick-up games with us during the timeslot you mentioned. That way you will really be able to test if you can play league style games.

Good luck m8s o/

yeah no problem, i'll pop on tomorrow sometime maybe.

Anyway, about the server, we get say around 250-300 ping, just takes time to get used to, i was playing in NA servers for about a month while AU servers were pretty much dead, i found it playable

you should hit up #dbmixer on irc.gamesurge.net - if you guys don't mind the ping and all that stuff. yeah you guys can join. tho you won't be able to compete untill season III starts, which won't be fore another month or so /o\

pok im reallly not sure a 250 ping is gonna be any fun for you guys.. and prob not for us either. You really need to come to #dbmixer and test it out in some pickup games since those are similar to league style. If you still think it's ok then it might be worth a shot. And also, if you are really serious about it you might try out some Los Angeles based UT servers and see if the ping is any better there. If it is then maybe you could even consider renting one to use. Currently all the NA servers are in either north or east US which is a long way from you guys.

If you want some test IP's for servers in the LA area then let me know when you come visit us at #dbmixer.
