New Song - Vector Zone 5

It's been a long time since I last composed a song. Most of my old stuff is kinda sucky, so I'd like to bust out some higher quality tracks.

I have taken to using Dance Ejay 6, because of the level of ease and flexibility I have when creating my own melodies using the hyper and bass generators (basically allows you to place notes where you want them on a bar).

I've been working on this one for the past six hours or so and I'm hoping you'll like what I've come up with. With the exception of the drum loop, everything was produced by me.

You can download the track HERE (right click - save as).

Criticisms would be much appreciated and if you're going to vote on the poll, please be honest.

P.S. I realize the name is somewhat stupid, but I couldn't think of anything else at the time.

Well although I hate to say it,

this seems to me like just another standard production :<

The typical intro, the default standard bass-line, the high synths, the default TR-909 clap-sounds..
Even the, at first very interesting, piano starts to get a bit default and overused at some point :<

It might be me, and you'll have to remember this is generally not the music I like to listen to, in fact..I mostly have some trouble listening through a full track of this kind of music now but..
I don't know /o\ it always seems so repetitive to me.

It's not even that I can't listen to music without vocals (most punk etc. would be very repetitive without the lyrics), I can't really tell you why I can listen to Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells (I and II, both very minimalistic productions), Beethoven's 5th symphony (just a bit over 70 minutes) or Carl Orff's Carmina Burana (just over 60 minutes) over and over again, whereas I can't listen to 3 minutes of this and enjoy myself.

So note that I might be a bit biased towards the genre, or there's just something in me that won't allow me to like this stuff. That said, some things I liked and didn't like:

Interesting bits:
- Piano-sample
- semi-interesting variation at the end of the background synths that start at the beginning of the song (first time it can be heard is something like 0:05 to 0:08 or so)
- The part where the bass (and claps :( *sigh*) takes over for a bit and proves quite charming @ 0:34 - 0:48

Things I didn't like so much:
- Standard 'oonts-oonts' bass that kicks in at 0:07
- The annoying claps /o\
- Overall repetitiveness (it's a genre-thing though I guess)
- The 'Beverly Hills Cop'-style loop that starts at about 0:48 I think

Overall, I guess if you had fun with this and you like it yourself, then good job :)
I don't like it very much but I guess you'll have to hear a little review from someone who actually likes the genre a bit more first to balance it all out ;)

Thanks for the crits Messy, this is the first song that I've produced my own content for so I expected there would be mixed reactions. :)
