So many Empty Servers :(

Has anyone else noticed all the EMPTY Servers late nite? NA servers anyway....not talking about EU. Sucks cuz back in the 2.0 days Buds and FO were ALWAYS FULL. Then there were a couple other servers here and there to practice in until you got a slot in the other 2 open. Just wondering whats going on?

I know how everyone feels about post 2.0 Deathball, but I miss the great late nite games. I guess everyone is trying other Mods as I am, and finding more Action and Excitement there. Something DB used to have, just a few short months ago. I've been asking around and no one can really tell me what was actually WRONG with 2.0. I mean I know you always have to fix bugs and this and that....but, its just weird.... is it JUST ME?
I mean you can't really say Deathball is GROWING, can you? I talked a bunch of Clan members into playing and they are even changing there server over to DB from Instagib last I heard. I just hope it will be worth the while, and they wont sit around hitting a ball against the wall in a empty server like most......of us Late Niters...... I like 2.2 some what better, but I guess I dont understand how it really makes you use more teamwork. Just as much ball hogging and 1 man team stuff going on now as ever before.... OH well..... Keep moving in the right direction untill you Smack your head on 2.0 agian...hehe :)

Euro Servers seem to have had less people on as well.

:lol: ouch, cheap shot by CorDawg

Most servers are out of date, that or people just play Pugs / Pickups (whichever side of the pond) instead of public...

Additionally, the now WIDESPREAD problem of extremely slow mapchanges are certainly killing server loyalty and encouraging people to hop around. Every NA server I have connected to has a slow mapchange occurring. While I enjoy the up to 3-minute pause by getting a fresh drink, I know it angers people that the action doesn't roll right along. Can we do anything about this?

Serveradmin thread where we detail it a bit more: http://forums.gameservers.net/showthrea ... adid=16014

Imag im sorry to say but i believe it is ut2vote...Rush, UFO, and Mixer servers have to real delay in map change. there is a 10 - 15 sec change at best

^-- what dev said

the only variables between these 2 servers are:
* ut2vote
* windows servers v/s linux servers

any other variables?

ufo server is 10ppl + 4specs.. linux.. 2 maps in automatic rotation (smallcube/mixercibe), and about 7-8 available in maps dir. no ut2vote. passworded.

I sat in UFO private and timed the mapchange when it had people still in it. 2mins, 43secs to go from mixer to smallcube.
Don't believe it? Get 8 people in the server and vote a mapchange.

I removed ALL traces of ut2vote and ran a full night of testing on my own server. Same result - huge delays.

WKD server: linux based. Same problem as mine.

I thought it was UT2Vote too. Imag proved me wrong. :D

Strange how no Euro servers have the problem.
