I'm having problems starting it up

I am having some problems starting up Deathball. When I start it up, I am in some sort of server. It is entirely black. I can use the console. I can also disconnect and look at server options, which is why I know it is one. I am running Win XP. I can quit to a server list, but all the servers ask for turning stats on. I cant get anywhere but the join internet game area. If I go to the menu, it is all black and all I see is a little blue cursor. I downloaded the Exe version. Please help me. I want to join the deathball community, but can't seem to get it to work. Also, there are no error messages when these things happen.
