the reason i stopped watching football (soccer) is because of all the stops in midgame for free kicks...
if free kicks will be impleented... that eans u need a bunch of ppl to build a wall in front of it.. which also means u need 11 players not 3 attackers:)
for the sake of experimentation.. would be cool to ake a real big soccerfield map.. with 11 on 11 players..

in a 30min game, i would guess any more than 5 free kicks would get annoying

nah

all ideas i had were equally bad, not worth mentioning
but i tell you, free kicks would be fun!
i want a really powerful shot, and a radius in which the enemy players cannot be, so they can build a wall outside. and jump when you shoot (and you shot at their feet

)
imagine curling that thing with super power around the wall
maybe the enemy-volley-latency could be abused there, but on the other hand, the defenders can easily kick the attackers away so they cannot volley...
make sure this "powerfull" shot has a huge charge radius, the best way to make it efficient

ok.... my original idea was to award free kicks if someone gets hits twice in very rapid succession on ball pickup (ie a freekick is only given if the player did not have time to pass the ball, the moment they pick it up). The problem is that this happens regularly just outside the penalty area and may discourage defense.
So how about making the middle one-third of the pitch a separate zone which is the only area free kicks can be given.
This has 2 benefits,
1) wont happen that often because its in an area where you are less likely to get rapid attacks from different people. Players generally spread out in the middle section of the pitch, or are boosting.
2) the middle one-third of the pitch is where you want the free kicks anyway since its not too close to the goal.

No, just outside the penalty area is the final stoppage time before they shoot, it is important to rape, or hit them here!

I think I was being stupid (again) and been reading to fast, that could actually work, make it into different zones

killing someone right after he got the ball (no time to pass) is what you have to do in deathball, it would be against the game philosophy to penalize a team for it...
i'm more looking for something that can be forbidden for a good reason
holding ball for 7 secs is uninteresting, its easy to avoid in defense, and when it gets close you just end up throwing it at the wall or so
no good idea

Put the broomstick back in. When they try to do it, foul! Also, drop flag is a foul too. Nope, not possible to come up with a good idea for this one.

what about a freekick if the goalkeeper fails to clear the ball from the pen zone?

but in 2.0 defenders can easily block ball, and nothing goes thru you (except it looks like it for you because of the ping; when the ball goes thru yourself)
Ok, well I'm still on 1.9b mb.
And twigster's idea on shakey passes is good.

It's true the ball dosn't go through you in 2.0, i think (yes I can admit it! :p). Though it does annoy me how big the deflection radius is occasionally (unless thats just the effect of lag too).

its good now, you need enough room for a pass, no more random passing thru a defender who does a proper job. i finally feel safe in defense, i know i can block it if i do it right. Or I can at least make the attacker pass back, so no attack...
