I don't think foul language is a problem here. Shoot.
OK back on topic.
Carball is fun. Shame the bots don't work so people could practice a bit before humiliating themselves online.
Although it is a ball sport it's quite different from DB as you have less control. It makes for some humorous moments online and deserves to do well I think. I'll certainly play it if I see it on BuD (I've no time for anything much atm though ).

all these people now how to bounce/volley etc.
but they dont know how to play around a defense, how to score with normal shoots... if they dunno what to do they play it against the wall then they fuck up or not.
but thats only a small part of db and in my opinion the bad part...
its just 10 people running after a ball in goddamn small area!
You should play pubs more often.
Things have changed! ..sometimes
BuD Pub server happenings
- Some have asked me to remove all small and vo maps and force cube and november maps on pubbers
-- Haven't decided to try that yet. People tend to want a choice and will simply go somewhere else. There's always a sever with small maps for people to pile in on.. I have tried to reach a middle ground with some of my server work as I describe below.
- Many have complained that there's no 'good maps' on the server; 'good maps' being defined as blueridge, smallcube, smallcube2, oldsmallcube, smallenclosure.. etc.
-- BuD runs with maplimiting set to 6 mapchanges before a played map becomes available again
-- The server also employs checks to allow/disallow voting for maps based on current playercount and mapsize. if there's too many people in the server, the small maps disappear from the voting screen.
-- BuD Pub defaults to a 12-player maxplayers setting, but has a system in place to raise or lower the maxplayers value used by the server on the fly - depending on the map in play. I am of the opinion that maps have a maximum allowable playerload that seems to be lower than that of my server's players. I think overcrowding a map makes for crap gameplay and I prefer to do what I can to make sure people have the opportunity to play with grace and not be forced to mosh.
-- Locking of maxplayers to what a map will support often results in a queue of spectators. When a vote is next called or at match end, UT2Vote has additional checks to ensure the only maps available for voting are ones that are large enough for the current players plus the spectators. I don't like seeing people forced to watch while small vo maps are voted up consecutively.
- What else can we do to make the pub experience better?
-- ???

Nothing. The NA pub scene is run the right way (imo of course), largely thanks to you. There is always people to play with, including players people could consider vets.
There is some trash talking and bitching that may put off new guys but really that's all part and parcel of DB. It wouldn't be the same without it. Hell, even the bots do it.
Euro servers need to give you admin rights.

Shame he was too interested in outclassing everyone instead of sharing his experience. He did point out that there is like 15 other carball servers out there and he wasn't going to go out of his way to help us enjoy trying it on the BuD pub.. It might have made the run of games longer. As it was though, people got discouraged and voted Deathball back in.
Just another attempt at widening people's horizions .... wasted.
Widening peoples horizons? whats that?
I played deathball for a while and I got to be an average goalie. I can't say I was ever good at offense. Unless I was able to bring 3-4 of my carball people at a time it wasn't all that fun due to the fact the players who play now are too skilled lol. I just feel suck a skill gap inbetween. Of course this isn't your fault its the people running the mod and not constantly drawing new people in. Same thing happened with air buccaneers also.
Oh yeah and I am working on a great training map and I would be happy to release it to Imag to put on buds. Unfortunately the tick for offline vs online play in carball is off. So the map would have to be run online. Fortunately I am sectioning the map up through the use of our vehicle teleporters. There will be a central hub and you can teleport to the areas that you need work in. I plan on adding audio instructions along with visual instructions in each specific shot area. It will be set up to where you can practice certain shots as much as needed until you get them right.
Ha! You're giving me a little too much credit.. I just try to keep a few servers up with some selection. It's up to the players to get on and use it. I would pass thanks on to ProAsm though. He's the one that takes my ideas and works them into UT2Vote to make the server do things that Epic never intended. And make me admin on euro servers? Again? You must be crazy if you think I need more work!
OJ: I was referring to getting my fellow DB addicts to try something similar but new.. Carball. I think it could have gone better if the expert Carballer we had in the server was helpful instead of just taking advantage of all the guys that were seeing the mod for the first time. I think it may have shed a little light on how 1st-timer deathball rookies must feel.
As for the training map, if you know me, I loves me some beta hosting. If it's ready for server testing, gimme!
