iirc, you can just remove all the non DB related files from the maps and textures folder and you save well over 2 gigs or something.

if epic dont lie there will be a patch for 2k3 to make the net-code compatible (or didnt i hear when they said otherwise?)

I posted that, but then i deleted it cos i thought maybe the server needs some on the texture files or something bleh.

Anyway, the maps (Standard install + DB) is about 830, 150 is DB.. so you saving about 680Mb

yeah - whats best is to backup the textures, then load all the maps offline to make sure they work, then you can blitz all the textures safely

would be nice if there was a list of used textures by db - as i like the others only have 2k3 for db, so a minimal install would be triffic :D

about the net code.

UT2003 and UT2004 transver files diferntly but that has no effect what so ever to unreal script. so the DB people wont have to do Didly squat. Epic promesed that mods for UT2003 will work for UT2004 and can you say DB with vehicals. (and huge maps). i can WOOOOOOOOT.

Why go UT2004 - improved net code - which DB is in a huge need off, new models, new textures, new meshes, voice, and most importantly - that is what the majority of people will be playing and the profesional servers hosting.

Remaining UT2003 only won't improve this:

..Because 90% of those servers are from europe and your from america? No good netcode can change getting the same ping from halfway around the world

Personally I think a decent attempt at marketting DB to the general 2k4 playing public would go a long way towards strengthening the community, especially since 1.9b looks better each release.

-we wont use the models
-neither will we use the textures + their textures arent good
-we have nothing to do with their meshes
-same for voices
-and servers around the world always have a crap ping

Seriously, why would you think we'd ignore this change and just stick to UT 2k3. We wouldn't be able to participate in later phases of the MSUC. DB will stay DB however, we'll just be using UT2k4 as the game we'll release DB 2.0 for.

And there will be no DB with vehicles, don't ask ;)

Because DavidM has said that he doesn't want to switch to 2k3 :)

Most of all, there will be almost no new players if we stay with ut2k3 after ut2k4 release...
