this has just been suggested 2 weeks ago, and I already pointed out why it cannot be done.

why not just make a custom crosshair of a dot surrounded by a circle with distance of the volley/boost radius?
obviously it wouldnt change colour but its a start

Hm i don't find it either now.
Well, its a performance thing. Doing it server side would eat soo much performance......checking the distances of 10 players too many times a second....
Doing it client side would give you wrong results (crosshair tells you you can boost, but actually you are 1cm too far away for it...)

could u tell me how to set the cross hair circle radius then? might as well try it...

what about if it just checked the distance from the ball...
then u could still scan for volley distance (and player hitting maybe) and save performance too

Another interesting idea, but I don't think it should be done.

Relik, its exactly the same. And for the ball its uninteresting, when a ball is flying past you it goes that fast, you have no time to react to the crosshair color change. For boosting it would be good, but cannot be done it seems.

this idea wouldnt eat up _too_ much performance:
maybe instead of your xhair turning a different colour, how about it locks on to the object in the appropriate colour? like the ball lock on, beeps n stuff (client side configurable but server side for taking into account lag). solves the multi item thing problem
=)

fair enough
guess thats that then

hrm.. the current circle crosshair works fine for boost and hit radius on the central radar...
just touching the line is team boost and over 1/2 in the circle is enemy. You just have to adjust the central radar zoom distance.
