(no one would read it :))

Paraphrase of Surge:

DB is dieing because it is too n00b-friendly.

Hmm.. Think about it. Personally I prefer the easy-to-learn, hard to master way.

However, back in the days when volleying was hard, pulling off a good volley was so much more satisfying. so i vote yes, because in all honesty it doesn't make it much harder and would make it more fun.

Haha... wrap your heads around that one, n00bs!

Edit: on another note, has anyone noticed the Total: 100% in the poll? duh.

if you click the veiw results it doesnt let you vote and the total falls below 100% i believe.

set jumps did require more perception and skill, but it was annoying when you missed a jump (maybe by as little as milliseconds). But even with free jumping, you still need to think about your positioning.

hmmm... got me thinking.

You could make it a client side option, you select between free jumping with a very small penalty on maximum height - or set jumping and gain the extra inch or so.

This could be seen as a way to help new players into the game, and the more advanced players something to experiment with to pull of harder moves.

We could take this idea further. How about making client options for other variables - so a player can mix and match abilities based on his prefered position or play style.

For example, offset a slightly bigger volley radius with a weaker volley shot. Or health (i.e. thee hits to die) against recharge speed.

Basically anything to make it easier for a new player to play well, but allow more experience players to pull off harder advanced moves.

Anyway, as Chrisfu identifies, a big issue with db is down to how some people/clans take the game far too seriously, or bringing a immature attitude to the community. I'd hate to see any more good players leave because what was fun is now turning into work - or new players being turned off db by a handfull of immature l33t pratts. Unfortunately changing the game wont help with this.

old jumping |----------x--------| new jumping
thats about how I think
i like both, but both have weak points, so i prefer new jumping

I've been against free-jumping since it was implemented, as i thought i had mastered the regular quad-jump pretty well, and the free-jumping made it easy for n00bs to do what i was doing, which was timing the quad to get passes. :p

ps- sup to all my peeps, lol
