and the gameplay looks awful indeed

No wonder DB didn't win. IOS won because it doesn't take unessecary steps to make it impossible for the keep to save anything.

not trying to be a sore loser but looking over all the category winners it leans towards the masses of HL kids who vote for their favourite engine and not the games they play, a lot of great unreal engine mods didnt even get a mention

I think it all comes down to the fact that this mod is, and probably always be, a niche game. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the downside is we're never gonna win a popularity contest.

Doesn't bother me tbh, as long as development continues (which I'm sure it will), we'll be the last mod standing.

Probably longer than RO too.

ya beefsack, what you said...
when its about voting for mods, the game with the most players (half life) will have it's mods win...
its pointless, the IOS voters have never ever seen DB

The keep seems to be a shitty bot that doesn't save much x_X

As unreasonable as in most console footy games last time I played any.
Where the keeper sometimes gets some brilliant shots out of the goal, then let's in a shitty shot (highly abusable too)

I know they can be taken over, but if the keeper is AI-controlled by default, I'll just presume manual control won't be all that tweaked.

I'm just guessing here though :) from the film and some basic info..

ps: David, note how most of us haven't played IOS at all either and still think DB is superiour from just a small bit of info and a small clip.

erm, the statement about ios player never seeing DB is slightly untrue, I myself am a farely regular ios player, but before that i was a regular DB player, which was around the time public server play was in its prime, i liked the 1234 server.

I used to play DB non stop and loved the mod at one time, but then i grew to dislike some ppl in the community mixes came into play and pub servers died off.

Other factors were the volley bug abuse, attitudes towards the new players that were joining and it was just getting to much to be worth playing.

I have pld since but it doesnt seem to have the same magic it used to, but that is just me, I know alot of ppl still like it a great deal.

It shames me that the community here hasnt changed much and are still fouled mouthed and unrespectful to others, which imo shows, due to your lack of respect for the hardwork other mod designers and artists put in.

Yes you are angry your mod didnt come top, but it got its named mentioned and advertised what difference does it make wether it has a little number 1,2,3 next to it, all that matters is that your mod is still going strong within the ppl who play and that it is constantly improving.

The ppl that say ios is just plain crap are going from the video and experiences of public server play.

There are plenty of servers to play on we have leagues, mixes, cups, world cups regularily and the community is so trusting that most of us have admin to the 20 or so servers that are up.

yes the gameplay might look crap in videos and is struggling due to the limitations of the game engine at times, but the simplicity of the game is is biggest strength, players are rewarded for there skills and not bugs or unbalanced gameplay, in many ways it is identicle to DB, the only major differences is the game engine and the implementaions of each idea. Also the move to the Source engine is jsut round the corner, so hopefully the mod can take advantage of this.

The keepers are bot controlled on pub servers, due to the ppl usually playing on the pub servers being new to the game and unable to keep with any skill, which kinda ruins the matches, But most servers have a vote option to player control them, which we use in clan matches and mixes etc.

Most of the regular ppl of the community play on the mix matches which is set up in irc, like db has.

I have no problem with ppl not liking IOS, tis like marmite, you either love it or hate it with passion, it does take time to master and be any good at, kind like learning to volley and boost with skill in db.

I still play each version of DB when its released and still enjoy it somewhat and think its a great mod.

However, I think the comments made by David M and some others are uncalled for and as the mod creator? should be a bit more proffessional and respectful to fellow mod creators work, especially as wasnt there a time when DB wanted to go retail? Theres a difference between saying you dont like the mod and legit reasons, rather then critising the mod developers hard work.

Anyways, gl with the mod, wish you all the best.

Hopefully my post didnt turn into a rant or flame.

Just to make clear, this is my opinion only as a past player of DB and ios, I do not represent the ios community or mod designers thoughts on this, I post here as a db player and a kind of neutral member of the community.

Most of the ios community have never been to these forums, The only reason i checked this forum was after having experienced ppl within this mod first hand , I had a feeling there would be a few, well unhappy ppl.

On a final note, I agree you should put the ut2004 models back in.

If any of the mods feels this post will cause more trbl then its worth pls delete, I really do not want to cause any trbl, just wanted to state my mind, which forums are for.

Btw, is source ball on the source engine related to DB in anyway, cos they look highly similiar.

to jodeci

dont take offence from the cries of a person who loves this underrated and overlooked mod nowadays :p i just get annoyed when some people arent even willing to open their mind and look at other engines.

all people care about is halflife and many awesome mods on other engines tend to be overlooked, and can send them into oblivion (insert action unreal here).

looking at the link to sourceball i cant help but feel a bit dissapointed because even if it doesnt reach the level that DB has it will still probably be hugely popular because of the engine alone, just hope you are seeing what i mean too.

Yes, considering that RO will be a retail game and no longer a mod :D

I agree with JODECI, we need a lead designer that is always super happy and smiling no matter what the HL2 fanboys say.
