apparently you people dont play Volley only games very much. If you really want weak vollies make it a mutator or a server option. It totally wrecks the point of volleying for 90% of the forwards that are actually good at it and on 1v1's i tend to use vollies instead of trying to run over a defender

thats why i initially said to make it an option. deathball has to stay customizable. just finished a 2v2 mini competition in australia and it would have been impossible without the ability to turn on sprint and banana and off long shots. if it is made an option, it can be left to personal taste.

Hmmmm....I don't think this is an "exploit" at all, anymore than a regular volley. I got stung a number of times by this kind of shot, but one quickly learns how to deal with it. Most of the time the ball will move in a straight line from it's brief resting place, so you just have to get in front of it. IMHO, regular shots (by a good shooter) and wall volleys are more difficult to defend than this kind of shot.
How about those good 'cross' volleys; the ones that a player volleys airbourne from a well placed cross like in soccer? Those are a bugger to stop.
Hehe, I love scoring those, especially when it's crossed from slightly behind you, and the keeper's perfectly positioned to save it... then you nip in and whallop it in the top corner, shearer-like

I agree the cross volleys are great and gives you a lot of satisfaction from scoring from a good cross.
btw, is the tap shoot/volley meant to be in the game or is it something ppl have just picked up by playing alot, as this seems to be the general way of shooting for most ppl on servers now, at least when there one on one with the keeper, as it is quite easy to shoot in one direction then volley it in a different direction with the keeper almost helpless unless they pull of a lucky save.

It's a side-effect of the slowdown used to stop dribbling, unfortunately.

i got a solution bring back my dear dribbling
btw if you think that n00bcannons aren't usaullable against a good keep think agian, gimpo from wkd uses this and beats many a keep

Yeah...my post makes it sound like I have those cannons all sorted! Far from it....I got stung a couple of times today. They are just so quick when used well.....

Amen to that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Noob cannons are a bug in the game that needs swatting.

i think the best solution would be to disable vollying if you shot the ball for a second or 2
means wall vollies will still work, but n00b cannons will be less rare

Hey i dont understand how people can be getting annoyed with volleys as a whole. Volleys involve some form of skill to aim them and if the defenders cant stop someone from throwing up a volley then the goal is deserved anyway. Also disabling volleying for a second or 2 is insane, i for one use the wall to make my volleys all the time very quickly after firing the ball. But what if u fire the ball and the enemy fire straight back are u meaning to say that u cant volley that?
Again with noob cannons i mean if the defenders are worth having then that noobs cannon is going to go pounding straight into them. Stop trying to make this game easier for the noobs.. take some time out to practice i still haven't mastered the game and im far from it but im not going to complain everytime someone makes use of a feature of the game that i cant.
there are ways to counter every attack that i can think is possible in deathball you just have to learn them. What do you exactly want this game to become? Was it meant to be easy to master.. i dont think so.

I couldnt agree more with that statement! Lets get back to players having to use their grey matter to make scoring chances by...
Reducing volley radius so that is takes skill to time a volley, even with a broadband internet connection
Limiting how long a player can hold the ball and preventing a player from picking up the ball again unless someone else touches it or 2 seconds have elapsed
Remove ability to volley when ball hits ground for second time, following a lob
Changing sprint mode behavior so that activating sprint in your own half exhausts stamina, while activation in opponent's half is dependent upon sprint button being pressed i.e. attackers can fake a sprint and commit a defender, allowing possibilty for making space shortly after
Eliminate instant death when hit in penalty zone, unless you have ball or are hit by the keeper
Change keeper rules so that keeper has to press a button to catch the ball (can be activated say every 1.5 seconds). If the ball hits keeper when catch mode is not active, ball bounces off them like a 'soft-volley' (as if holding down secondary fire), emulating a keeper who has dived the wrong way but saves shot with their legs. Keeper does not have volley ability

ok, just read it all. lets begin.
Reducing volley radius so that is takes skill to time a volley, even with a broadband internet connection
its hard enough for non broadband ppl to volley atm. if volley radius was reduced, it might scare away a few ppl.
Limiting how long a player can hold the ball
i dont know about that. it would make the game more like netball. you need to be able to hold the ball for a while so ur team can flow for a bit.
Remove ability to volley when ball hits ground for second time
this one is a bit more like it. maybe each time the ball bounces off a surface, the volley power is reduced a bit. this might spur on more crosses.
Changing sprint mode behavior...
hmm, i think that the ones who should be advantaged somehow with sprint are the defenders. it would make the attackers have to think more.
Eliminate instant death when hit in penalty zone...
hmm. one to think about.
Change keeper rules...
we dont want to make it harder for the keeper. if you want to make use of that "grey matter", making it harder for the keeper aint gonna do nuthin :p
imo if we want ppl to use brains, we need offside. i heard that offside is no longer coming

can anyone verify this?

it DOES take brains to score, goddamnit. The thing that takes the most brains is getting ahead of your defender to be clear (in clan matches) and if you implement offside as well, that could not possibly happen.

uhm, sure. well, if there is a defensive trap (as there tend to be in offsides), a perfectly timed run to get into the clear takes brains. it takes brains to be a defender in offside too.
