I just did some testing under linux. First I moved away deathball directory from ut2004's directory as well as moved away ~/.ut2004/deathball (for you windows users: In linux different programs stores their config files to the user's home directory who runs the program, in other words every user will get he's own config file for every program he runs. "~" mark means home directory of the logged in user. "." in front of file/dir name means that that file is hidden. So ~/.ut2004 contains my config files for ut2004. [/short_linux_course]). Then I extracted deathball21.zip and deathball22beta.zip in to ut2004 dir. Then I went to ut2004/deathball/System directory and deleted Deathball.u (deathball21.zip contains Deathball.u and deathball22.zip contains deathball.u) and default.ini files and renamed defaultlinux.ini to default.ini. Then I simply launched ut2004-bin with -mod=deathball parameter and it worked with no issues. I also tryed to rename deathball directory to Deathball and tryed to run it with -mod=Deathball parameter instead (tryed all four possible combination) and it worked fine.
I don't undestand why FireCell had to change the deathball.ini, maybe it's because FireCell is using 3236 version of ut2004 (unless he has updated to 3270 already) and I'm using 3270 (I also don't undestand why it hasn't been announced yet that there is 3270 linux patch for ut2004).
[edit] Hit Submit reply too early

[edit2] Has anyone tryed to run DB 2.2beta using defaultlinux.ini under Windows? (remember to remove your deathball.ini if you want to try this) Cause if it works fine, default.ini should be replaced with defaultlinux.ini so that linux users wouldn't need to do the renaming.

i have 3270, i also tested renaming my deathball folder to Deathball then using the defaultlinux.ini instead and that worked without me having to change anything.
