how bout a longer replay that only takes 5 seconds

this is done by the replay changing speed frmo start to finish

ie:

first second - 2.5 speed
second second - 2.0 speed
3rd second - 1.5 speed
4th second - 1.0 speed
5th second - .5

so you see more of the play without the replay taking forever... i'm sure its possible.

inphidel thats a pretty neat idea.

having the replay start off fast then slow down as it gets interesting.

as for replays of great saves, if done at the end.. nobody is gonna watch it.. cuz unfortunately nobody cares about anyone else but themselves.

best way to show those would be at the next goal. this way everyone's forced to watch it :)

how to figure out if it's a great save?.. messy? :)

That's a good idea but I think it would be kinda confusing at times to have 5 speed changes in one replay. If anything I think it should be as follows and comment as necessary:

Show 4 seconds, 3 seconds prior to goal (named seconds 0-3), 1 second after (named seconds 3-4)

Motion would be as follows-

Seconds 0.0 through 2.5 = realtime (1x speed)
Seconds 2.5 through 3.5 = slowmotion (.5x speed)
Seconds 3.5 through 4.0 = realtime (1x speed)

Knocks down replay time total to 5 seconds overall. Not sure if this is possible.

As for the save replay idea, lol you'd have to argue what exactly is a great save? Remember RBI Baseball 2 for the old NES, they replayed a great catch as long as you dove for it, didn't matter where from... lol but play with these numbers, it's just off the top of my head and open for criticism. But I'm sure most of us are in agreement that the replays are tooooo long.

well honestly i was thinking of a program that would take say 15 seconds of replay and start from a speed and end at 1/2 speed with whatever the algorithm would be to make it only take 15 seconds.. like a wheel slowing down.

Wow, as I looked over this thread's first page again, I thought exactly the same :)

Good idea tbh :D

like that idea too

but we have other problems to fix at the moment

Well that's a gauss math formula lol spent too much time in college Calc... but I don't think going from that fast to that slow would look all too hot... what would really be awesome is having the 2.5 seconds realtime, the 2.5 to 3.5 in slow mo, and then display the 2.5 to 3.5 in slow mo AGAIN from a different angle preferrably a goal cam... and then the 3.5 to 4.0 as normal... adds 2 seconds but would look really cool

Shev one thing you should learn with respect to this group is that "what it was is what it will never be again", maybe I'll do a little investigating on this and see what I can come up with for a server-side enhancement...

If anyone can use this, great... it's a mutator that resets the replay settings to 2.0 style this way they're not as long... put it on any servers you like...

If you can't use it... lol no problem here...
