I think soljanka once was a russian meal ...

We eat it like this (a family recipe):
pork sausage, cut to small cubes, bell pepper, tomatoes, some ketchup, onions, paprika, very few gherkin (interesting word, just found it in the dictionary), let it cook for an hour or longer (doesn't matter) and eat it with a slice of lemon and sour cream, and a spoon, of course

Sounds very eastern european. Nice. Is it with polish style sausage (much denser than english style sausage)? And what colour pepper ? I shall try and make it some time.
