Found this one, quite like it (no, I'm afraid I'm not as creative as Nicky - or lazier - didn't make it up)
John Peters was surprised to see his window slide open and was positively shocked when he saw two strangers climb inside. What transpired next could only be described as a despicable act of thievery. John watched with rapt fascination as the two thieves systematically began to remove the priceless Persian carpets, artwork, and jewelry. Having stripped the room, the thieves climbed back out the window. Incredibly, John went back to what he had been doing before the thieves arrived and soon he'd forgotten about the entire incident. Why wouldn't John, who was in perfect health, have tried to stop the thieves or at the very least call the police after they had left?

He authorized a Movers Company ...

(he used to live in a high level, so they would use the windows instead of the stairs)

Don't know what your movers do when you live in 4th floor and the house has no lift ... When I moved, they used an outdoor lift for that, attached to a window.

Was John also a thief, possibly working for the same group?

(and true, there are some pretty inventive movers out there :))

He and his wife are in divorce, and she wants to have everything. So he called the thieves to get everything. And the insurance can pay, too!

He just dreamt it? Most people forget their dreams after they awake!

It was all a dream. John was dreaming about something. Then he dreamt about that. Then he dreamt about the first thing again. Then in the morning he forgot all about it.

EDIT: Damn.

Also, an MS Paint graphical solution to the last one:
