and the person who actually catches the ball hears th new one right?
if this is the case i suggest you swap them around.....because ppl will be used to hearing the old sound when they might have caught the ball, therefore it would make more sense if we (the players) heard the same old sound when we did catch the ball, and the new one for when someone else does....
however if the above suggestion is already implemented then either the new sound is too similar to the old one and should be changed, OR, the DB community needs to listen better/beg for lower crowd noise in official maps....
PS: don't flame me for not knowing anything, I havent had the chance to even play 1.7 yet....

1.8 wish list for myself:
medium cube: cube slightly larger than small cube.
redesigned stat screen: stat screen is rather hard to understand at first, and the graphics are pretty much... meh.
new hud =)
improved spectator cam: more cam locations (ie: circle around the cube, rather than stay on one side), smoother turning. could be possible...
