History of Online Riddles ?

Post by Dr Strangelove »

Hi,

I am writing an essay about notpron, and I was wondering if anybody could tell me a bit more on the history of online riddles. Notpron was inspired by thisisnotporn, but was there anything before that? Notpron has also inspired a great number of new riddles, but is any of them popular/entertaining/innovating enough to stay around?
If you've got something interesting to say about the history of online riddles or if you know anything else that might help me, please tell me :)

Thanks!

I know that the Tim Tang Test has been around for nearly 4 years if that helps.

there is an online riddle called amnesya. it's kind of a clone of notpron. i think it's way easier then notpron, but only the first 50 lvls or smth. then it just gets stupid and totally ultra hardcore. there is (in my opinion) not a fair chance, to solve it. except you spend 2 days per level or smth, and with 2 days i mean 48 hours nonstop .

I just made a FFFUUU pic about a Remote Viewing Session a friend just made.

Ok, it was zebras, and he wanted to paint a horse. I'd let that count.

FYI, the guy in the pic is James Randi. He wants to pay 1 million dollar for a proof for something paranomal, but he always sneaks his way out of the deal, when he's cornered.
Oh and "ZUFALL" is german for "coincidence".

Some believe that the practice of online riddles has roots back to the ancient Egyptians, who used riddles to test their opponents. Others claim that the first online riddles were created in the early 1800s, when a group of students at the University of Edinburgh created a system for students to solve riddles.

I think the riddles come from Egypt. A lot of games are from Egypt, too.
