Level MINUS 12

I have no idea. Been fooling around with GIMP again, after a year-or-so break, and there is just nothing that I can find beyond the stupid squares, which don't even have the decency to be easily separatable from the image. Is the background relevant? Is there anything for me to do but to keep randomly transforming and filtering the image?

I've been stuck with this level for a long time...
i think i know what to do like the source told me, and i did it in all possible ways but still got nothing!!!
Is the answer written in some way or do I have to interpret the picture somehow?

I think this level is very unfair. I finally solved it, but I think it was out of luck. I just named the one thing I hadn't named yet (related with the level, of course) and it worked. But none of the hints above seem to be even close in pointing in the right direction (I didn't even use the squares! After all this time fooling around with them)

There is definitely a correct and fair way to solve the level, but it is quite difficult, and as you're seeing the hints start to dry up here in the forums as we get into the negatives! Sounds like luck was on your side for this one...

After some months of break, I've decided to try again... But this level is exactly as it was months ago, totally clueless for me. Is there someone kind enough to ask for a little little help? I don't even understand what are the objects in the background...
