i don't think db is what they are looking for becuase of the lack of beautiful grafix and new models.... but davidm has done at least a decent job or else we wouldn't all be here, he does deserve some propes for that.... i hope one day he can finaly get everything right and take db to it true potental but it is important to remember that unlike all those other mods davidm doesn't have a cookie cutter formula to go from, there aren't any set do's and don'ts with a fpsg hopefully db won't be the last
DB contains 1 original model for the weapon. All other mods at least have more than 1 (Chaos UT) or multiple models for players. DB is also not a very difficult concept. The only things that are impressive in the coding and design of it are the banana shot, sprint, and that new deflection deal.
It honestly doesnt hold a torch to a game like Faceoff or Troopers (even tho Troopers sucks TBH) simple because there are more elements to those games which are more coding intensive and would take more effort to implement. The gun-barrel oriented crosshairs is amazing and a far better solution to a CoF. These are what will impress the Nvidia judges, not the basics that is Deathball.
Also, considering how many versions DB has go through, and the fact that were still tinkering with basic values (shot power, pass power, etc.) that wont be too impressive. Right now DB should have 100% finite gameplay and little to no modifications to it. Work should be done on small things that will make DB unique, like implementations of in-game camera's that dont crash servers (and we have reason to believe they do), reconnect statistics (like in Tac-Ops), and custom player models, or better yet, simpler things like a custom ball model.

lol davidm i am saying good stuff about you, what i am saying is that shooter have been done for a long time there is at least a decent idea of what works and what doesn't, there are of course differences in the games but i feel that they are more polishing and new balance to an already created formula, fpsg don't have that you are starting from nothing but soccer which you can't take directly, it is fairly new terrotry(i know i can't spell :-p)
