Colour me unimpressed with Brazil. Ronaldo should be sent home. I'm sure they'll improve though and Kaka was a shining light.

As for Zidane, no he didn't look brilliant. He had no influence on the game at all. It's not all his fault though. He didn't have much to work with. France were booed off the pitch in their last friendly and I don't think they've improved since then.

P.S. Australia are group F leaders. Savour the moment. :D

Ugh, dissapointing Brazil, Croatia should have done better, if only they knew how to shoot the ball inside the net, instead of passing to the keeper. :P

anyway, brazil won and that is what matters in this early stage, but they gotta improve certainly if they want to win this tournament again. Playing like this they would have a very hard time against Italy or Czech Rep. in the next round.

I was already expecting France to draw against Switzerland, France is just a shadow of the team they used to be some years ago. They need a fresh generation of great players.

If France don't score against South Korea they'll equal the world cup record for consecutive matches without scoring currently held by Bolivia (5).

They really need to start with Saha in their next match.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the fact they drew in their previous two meetings would it? xD

Yes I concur, Brazil weren't as good as we have all seen before, but just goes to show even the world cup winners can have a "warm up" for their first match, makes England's poor performance not seem to bad after all ;)

Zidane wasnt brilliant. He did some "nice" passes, cause he knows how to kick a ball. But he just did well, when switzerland gave him VERY MUCH place - other players could pass this way too, if you dont try to attack them. But if they attacked him, he had no moments of showing a defender his talent, cause he is to old/slow for 1on1...

*edit:

ESPANIA! great, they tryed to score more and more and were still fighting after a big lead - not like teams like portugal...

Spain looked very good. If they have as much luck in the rest of the campaign as they had against Ukraine they could go all the way. You'd still expect Ukraine to get out of the group.

How's your e-penis doing kewangji?

I have to admit I actually enjoyed watching the Spain match.
I wanted to start following this whole WC-thing (motivation #1 is still boredom) yesterday with Brasil (I had missed Togo because I had better things to do), but that match was boring as hell.

Spain was fun though :)
I wonder what else will be able to excite even a non-footy fan like me in this WC :)

..I can't stand the chauvinism though; people acting stupid, working class areas all covered in orangy kitsch..I do suppose it's like that in all other countries (but in other colours)?

What an exciting end to the match. I thought Tunisia had lost it after taking their foot off the gas in the second half. Looked like destiny for Jaber to come on and score the winner for Saudi Arabia. One point helps neither team though. Ukraine will be relieved.

So we've seen every team play now. Anyone changed their mind on the winners or is it too early to tell?

Yeah Spain played well , their 4th goal was just <3 well played :)

I was sort of watching Tunisia vs Saudi Arabia but not paying that much attention, I left the tv just as they called for extra time ... came back and :o !

oh and also, some of the fans just ruin a good sport and a good competition for everyone else, especially some England fans ¬_¬

edit : also Germany vs Poland looks set to be a good game :)

England fans have been absolute gold this tournament. Same in 2004 and 2002. What's your problem with them? Unless you're talking about the booing of Hargreaves? That is pretty stupid.
