VO or reg??

Post by E-VecTz »

What is your opinion on Volley Only deathball and regular deathball??

Here is my opinion of VO:

+Faster gameplay
+Tricks
+Need more practise to become good
+Less lame distance shots
+One man can make the difference

Regular:

+Better and faster teamplay
+Better tactics and strategy required
+Less ego's

Agree with +Need more practise to become good, maybe its one way to actually be able to volley a blood ball...which some dont do.

but the rest i disagree...

vo is boring \o.

\o/ we welcome you back to 2003/2004! \o/

You're a little late for this discussion. No need to try and raise the dead.

"+Faster gameplay" it might seem to be faster if everyone just volley-spams the ball around... otherwise i don't see why having to find a way to set up a volley instead of straight shooting will do anything but slowing down the gameplay...

"+Tricks" you can do the same tricks and more in regular, but most don't because they are obsolete / inefficient - but if they are feel free to use them in regular games as well...

"+Need more practise to become good" right you need to learn how to volley, although you need that for regular games as well but can forget about how to shoot and the 'Better tactics and strategy required' in regular matches...

"+Less lame distance shots" that's what killed 2on2 vo imho - volleys can be lame distance shots are possible as well with a bit of practice...

"+One man can make the difference" if he can make a difference in vo but not in regular it's just that his opponents aren't playing as 'serious' as in a regular match because of the 'Faster gameplay'

anything else?

The only reason i see for vo is that sometimes might just fun to volley-spam...

ps: oh and yes, i'm bored...

VO is alright if you don't have enough for reg. The range of passing is much greater in reg, VO is all about close control and slotting passes through tiny gaps (although with 2.4 all gaps are kinda small). Plus you get to shoot in reg. >.>

Downside of reg is that players need discipline to stay in position. OK, that's not really a downside, the fact that most people don't have it is.

goldy pretty much said it.

VO isnt faster at all.
Tricks can be done anywhere...
Actually VO should be more team based.
Forget the "need more practise" bullshit.
The VOers play horrible shit from what I see....can't even pass, or shoot...but doing stupid bounce stuff.
Distance shots aren't lame. They make the game dynamic. VO limits tactics down to a minimum. You don't even need a keeper in the goal...he can just cover someone :o

And one man can make the difference in all modes...nothing spectacular about VO there....

Anyway, I despise VO if you didn't notice, for its lack of skill in all matters.
and I seriously consider removing the VO option, because Pubs all have it on for no real reason and that makes it impossible for new players to get a grip.

People played VO long before you added a setting for it to DB. I doubt it would have much of an effect.

then people can join and score however they want to. some pseudo-pros have no right to make up a "VO"decision for the server.

DavidM,

Go ahead and remove VO, but this will definitive kill DB on pubs...

You should consider that the most pub player prefer VO, if you remove it you have only the closed community in the pickups ;)

There are some new players in DB and they play as well VO, but UT2004 is dead and therefore DB doesn't get new players.

>Distance shots aren't lame. They make the game dynamic.

Totally agree in a pickup, but not in a pub game with uneven teams.

pickups killed pubs (if you can describe them as dead). (well that and the relative lack of success of UT2k3/4) :)
