Anyway, it's because the pothole covers are /actually/ aliens in disguise.
They begin their life as hubcaps that come off cars. Then they metamorphose and melt a small hole in the ground, where they wait in ambush.

@bunnyS, I completely disagree with camel. Camels have two humps, which means that you would need a special looking glass to see past it. Maybe armadillo?

They are round because they ain`t be shaped any other way due to the laws of democracy. If it had corners the corners would have less rights to decide about someone to fall in than the sides.

That was not creative though it is true: ask the international society of relationalism between edges and corners...
