those are both viable solutions given the paramaters I've set. Now let's make it a little more difficult.

The switches are simple switches (on/off only) and not only does the door close itself when you leave it alone, but the light bulbs are not visible from anywhere in the room you start in. Even with the door open.

Solve the riddle with those conditions added.

Flip one switch. Wait a while. Turn it off.
Flip another switch.
Go into the next room.
The bulb that is on is the second switch.
The bulb that is off, but warm is the first switch.
The bulb that is off, but cold is the third switch.

Okay, here's one.

You're trapped in a room. The room has a single door with a weight scale wired to it. Sitting near the middle of the room is another weight scale. Both scales are high-precision and will work only once and long enough for a single measurement.

There are 51 bags in the room. 1 bag is empty (for your use). The remaining bags contain 100 marbles each. 49 of the bags have marbles that weigh 1.000g, while 1 bag has marbles that weigh 1.001g. Neither the bags nor the marbles indicate which is which.

You must place exactly 10 marbles that weigh 1.001 g on the scale at the door to be released. There is no other way to open the door.

How should you go about this?

I think it's meant to say a single door.
I'll climb out the window, thanks :D

Sounds like The Crystal Maze to me

Yeah, a single door.
There are no windows -_- That's why you are TRAPPED in the room and not just sitting there trying to decide whether you feel like climbing out the window.

It's a TV show from the late eighties hosted by Richard O'Brien (the guy who wrote the Rocky Horror Picture Show). Featured lots of puzzles like this :)

when you say single measurement. Do you mean to imply that you place a certain weight on the scale it shows the weight for a moment and then shuts off? Or do you mean that once you remove all of the wieght the scale no longer operates?
