get prime95 and run the torture test for a few hours (overnight is best). If your machine is still alive afterwards, it's fine, and it's a software issue. If it fails, it's b0rked components.

ESD. People just don't read the warning labels and touch stuff anyway.

Alright, I'll try that plaer.

I also think it's a software issue, but this is a known problem. It's just that there's no solution.

I still go along with The_One on this... could be defective memory

Memtest86 or Windows Memory Diagnostics would detect that quick fast and in a hurry... (well maybe not that fast ;-) )

I bought different parts off newegg.com and installed them into my new case. So basically, everything is new..

In a hurry compared to Prime95 anyway. Plus you can rule somthing out with no errors in memtest86, while errors (or not) in prime95 will tell you nothing.

Hey, they may be brief but they're still instructions.

http://www.memtest86.com/#install

The only reason I can think of why it wouldn't work is he burned the iso, instead of opening it and then burning.

Last I spoke to him on irc, he had virus symptoms that I had seen before on my daughter's pc when she let SAV realtime disabled. I had him install an AV prog and sure enough.. he had bugs.

Wow, didn't know anyone ran without AV in this day and age. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
