Dendrophile
The BETA is available for download now.

It's roughly the size of Tribun and set in a jungle environment.
For more detail/a screenie/download link check the Deathball mapping center.

Looks great, plays rather nice, but VERY dark!

Also may be a better idea if you were killed as soon as you ran into the enemy's goal rather than having to wait so long to die.
No slowdown experienced.

Great map, I agree that it is a little dark tho. I imagine you are going to have a radar map on the completed release?

hey thanks for your feedback! :)

darkness:
it was dark, but ok on my monitor. the others that have tested the map before did not complain about the brightness either.
but that's why i've released that beta:
let me know if it's really too dark for you, because then i will make it brighter. (it's supposed to be dark - just not pitch black)

radar map:
 that's the first time i hear it has no radar map! it does have one... actually...

killtime:
an instant kill will be misused for an instant respawn. and if you don't want to hunt butterflies you needn't go out there at all.

It's that dark that if I turn off the beacons and vicinity radar I can't see anyone! :(

Definately had one when I played it... :)

I didn't plan on going out there in the first place, I just ran into the net with the ball.
Yes there are some of us who like to imagine the look of horror on a keepers face as we WALK into the net...
Maybe put a grid on the back and bottom?

Looking at the map again, it isn't really dark as I thought it was. It's a reasonable amount of light to have. I suppose it must've been because all the lights in my room were on. That would certainly make the image on my computer appear darker.

Oh it's dark! :D
Played it at night with no lights in the room except the glow of the monitor and was able to see proplerly. Played again just now with sunlight outside but curtains shut and could see bugger all... :(

i have made some changes:

- made brighter *Hurray!* 1)
- tweaked the emitters
- fixed the radar map (was upside-down  )

an updated version will be available soon 2)
once you're all pleased with it, the final version
will be released :)

1) it's still dark :p - i suppose it's normal that bright sunlight is bad for a map like this

2) one thing that kept be from uploading the updated version is that the second texture of my 'terrain' doesn't show up ingame (it's there in the editor) - any ideas why?

Have you done anything about being able to run around outside?

no, because i'm rather content with it the way it is. i like the ball swishing through the jungle when i score and i like hopping around out there when i score. (chasing butterflies, yes)

there's no reason to leave the cage during a running game than to respawn. instant respawns have been made impossible (no suicides, no double-teamswitching) by the DB makers for good reason, imo
