Nominations for coach: Deathball UK Team

Post by Chrisfu »

This is not a poll. Each person who replies to this thread (must be from the UK for obvious reasons) should suggest a candidate to be the UK team coach. Simple as that.

This is just my opinion, but anyone who is nominated should still the eligible to play for the national squad, as long as his selected team mates agree. Oh, and no self-nominations.

I'd suggest that the other countries do something similar to this to shortlist candidates for their respective national coach positions.

My suggested candidate is:

Code: Select all

holy crap batman.

i think id have to vote for cata too.

we need someone who knows db inside out and has been playing for longer than three weeks, is impartial, and wont just recruit friends and clanmates.

i think teh cat is teh man.

Yes I've been trying to think of a shortlist of nominations - and Cata definitely should be on it.

i disagree
i think we should have at least ...5 - 10 people leading the whole team, it would be a democrocy amongst those people as to the decisions we take.

So we'd have something like a parliment to decide things for the whole team... that seems like a much better way, far better than one guy who could mess up the decisions...

i dont think one guy is capable of making good decisions because the players will be from lots of different squads and places, we will have to do testing to work out who works well together, but a pool of knowledge is better than one guys.

and second, if you decide not to listen to me, i suggest you dont just vote for the best players..that would be a mistake..players and managers are different things :)

thx

ok.

your parliament idea.. use the nominations given here to 'elect' the people, and not just who jumped in an irc channel first.

secondly. its not about choosing the best players, its understanding what makes a good team and how the team should play.

A single leader doesn't mean it's not democratic. Your teacher at school is the leader of your class, yet it doesn't mean they're out to screw you over. :) If any of the coaches that are likely to be nominated in the next couple of weeks treated it as a dictatorship, I can assure you they wouldn't last long.

I'm sure whoever got the vote would be more than capable of leading the team and keeping everyone happy. Five to ten people leading the team is just madness. It wouldn't last a week in all honesty. The players can discuss, votes can be taken, but at the end of the day what the gaffer says, goes. It's the way most clans work. The only time where it doesn't work is when someone is too immature to accept a senior decision. This is why some people are kicked out of a different clan every week, and no one would even consider recruiting them again.

By the way, if you've been nominated and arn't interested in being coach, say so now. So far we have

you don't have 10 coaches for the england team... only 1

having 10 players running a team is having a normal team being run by all its members, even just 5. for the team you need 1 coach/player someone who know the game inside out. AND when choosing the team, he/she'll need to chooses the best 10 players, even that will be too much. And when choosing the players, you don't just chooses ne1, you need to observe game, you need to see who plays well with whom. Personally i'd vote for catalyst 88, he ran a great team |BuD|, but due to team players not being devoted enough(i believe) he left to join a clan that'd take DB seriously. No matter what match he plays in, weather it's a PUB game or a serious Clan match he notes what he does in games, there isn't one time where he thinks about what he does, when a new version of DB come out he sits down, looks at the changes and think to himself 'how do I adjust to this?'

My vote is for catalyst88 and excellent alround player.

and as for you gutterflower..

(15:53:50) (@Gutterflower) rage is no leader either
(15:54:50) (@[1234]Jr) ya, he just leads the (arguably) best DB team in europe..but hes no leader ;p
(15:54:56) (@L33FY) :>
(15:55:00) (@Gutterflower) its not about whos best player
(15:55:09) (@Gutterflower) jr: his team doesnt mean hes a good leader

you don't know what leadership is about at all do you? IF i wasn't the leader of TEZC, don't you think the team would be different? play differently? Maybe be better? or completely worse.

f.y.i i know all about my players, i know who plays well with who, and i know how they all play individually, i know all their secrets, weaknesses, and strengths. IF that isn't a leader to you then you need to undersatnd how a leader works. Weak clanleaders find that thier clans die pretty quickly. During the life of DB i have come across clans that are really good, but the leadership has been so weak that they die.

Yes i have made some mistakes being a leader, but that is what being a leader is about, learn from your mistakes and NEVER give in. I don't.

When we got a few candidates, then what? a poll? (maybe on the new forums wen i set em up properly?)

P.s UK'ers shud come to #deathball.uk even if a leader hasnt been decided yet

I know NaB's been critical of me cos im an op, and the topic sed "leaders: Jr, etc etc".. well we sorted that yesterday, im not the leader and neither is Gutter, Leefy, spiker Shin or whoever is op. We're just the people who a) Made the room, b) doin the site c) doin the forum .. thats all.. the leader will be decided by you (the masses) not us.. just so u know ;)

EDIT:
