Actually, Kamprad *isn't* the richest. The figure that was claimed he had (400bn Kroner/£29bn/$52bn) was actually the total value of all the ikea stores around the world. Since he gave up legal ownership of the company in 1982 to a Dutch firm, this is flagrantly not true.
According to the Forbes rich-list, which is pretty much definitive, the richest ppl in the world are:
1. Bill Gates ($46.6bn) - Microsoft
2. Warren Buffett ($42.9bn) - Investments/ Berkeshire Hathaway
3. Karl Albrecht ($23.0bn) - Aldi Supermarkets
4. Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud ($21.5bn) - Investments
5. Paul Allen ($21.0bn) - Microsoft
6. Alice Walton ($20.0bn) - Walmart
6. Helen Walton ($20.0bn) - Walmart
6. Jim Walton ($20.0bn) - Walmart
6. John Walton ($20.0bn) - Walmart
6. S Robson Walton ($20.0bn) - Walmart
