probs with db and ut2k3

Post by Puck »

Ever since patch 1.6 or version 1.6 came out I have been experiencing difficulties with db and ut2k3... for some reason when i try to join non db games it pops up a message...incompatible deathball.u file for like bombing run and ctf ut2k3 works fine for db but I would really enjoy being able to play the normal versions of this game also. It seems to fix the problem when i reinstall the db system files but it fixes only until i have to restart my comp or sometimes just randomly becomes a bug...PLEASE FIX this or explain to me how to do so cause its really f00king annoying. :(

Workaround

Post by NitrousOxide »

Add several DB 1.6 servers to your favourites list.
Then quit UT2003 and remove Deathball.u from the 'System' folder of your UT2003 installation.
Relaunch UT2003 and connect to one of those servers you put in favourites earlier (hopefully one of them will have Deathball.u redirected, if not you will have file within couple of minutes).
You can now play DB or any official gametype.

Mappers are in the minority in UT2003, most owners of the game simply want to play the finished products online. The original poster of this thread appears to fall into this latter category.

You will be waiting a long time to see bots get boosted down the field; sprint to the ball; shoot a bannana self-pass against the wall above the goal and volley it at 43 m/s into the top-right corner of the net o_O
