After playing the map, I have to say this is one of your better ones. I like the "up in the clouds" theme.

The map is too narrow. Load it with players and it's bomb ball. Keeper bombs it to the other side because passing lanes are so tight.

Players can sit on the side lines of the pbox and not be killed.

The ball leaving the play field bounces off of everything. Looks funny and plays bad.

Vortex also suffered from being too narrow. You want long maps to have enough room for passing via teamwork to move the ball. Both Vortex and Anomoly could be worked into much better maps.

{Vortex also need the cheap goal opportunity via the top tunnel removed. - Stuff like platforms and jump pads near goals are fun at first - but soon become whored and boring. Don't put in things that could be whored goal scoring opportunities. They always ruin maps in the long run.}

Because it's much shorter - more the size of volley only map. Players are not as spread out distance wise as on longer maps. Volley only maps start at about 4096 long, 2560 wide, 1280 high. Some run a bit longer and wider.

In general, maps are either .6 (cube) or .66 (bowl) as wide as long. You don't have to follow this but keep in mind you need enough room in the midfield for passing to encouage play there on longer maps.

You can narrow the goal area. Anomoly would benifit from some increased space for outlet passes from the keeper and midfield.

Vortex would benifit from a shorter go around wall. The players be able to go from offence to defence more quickly and spread out better. However, the map layout would require passing into the midfield.

I only got to play grounded for a minute. Hard to say much. The roof layout seemed spammy. Too low in spots.

For maps that are not normal rectangles, it's best to put out betas and see how they play full of players.

I had the idea to make a map with offset goals for a long time. Looking at your map and seeing people play and enjoy something that was not a rectangle, motivated me. I was working on a picture to show you how I would layout your map, when I said F-it. There is enough layout options for several different maps with offset goals, that I'll just build one of my own. Besides, this would be a much better way for me to show you. I hope you'll get some useful ideas from my map and don't see it as me stepping on your toes.

I actually built two. DB-Askew is beta, and I'm still working on a smaller one.

DB-Askew is done in 1024 (unit) wall sections between the beams. All walls are either 90 degrees or 45's. The goals are about the same distance apart as cubes and the middle section is almost as wide. I made the long wall to the left of the goals 3072+. This wall being pushed out farther than the same wall in your map is what gives my map more room (width) than yours. I also made the walls behind the goal 3072+ which widens the map and put flanks around the goal area.

The smaller version I'm still working on, is the same layout minus four 1024 wall sections. The 3072 walls to the left of the goals are minus one section which to 2048 each. Also the middle 2048 45 degree walls are minus one section to 1024 each. This makes the goals about 5120 apart vs 8192. The middle is less wide but it works because of the shorter map length. This will be more of a large VO map. If I remember correctly, even this smaller version is wider than your map, even with a much shorter length than yours.

An idea I toyed with is, removing the corner to the right of the goals and just making it a 45 degree wall. (see Askew radar pic - the green lines).

I have not seen my map play online. It may suck rocks. I learn a lot by viewing how maps play online. I still think Atomoly could use more room to make gameplay better. See how Askew plays. What's good, bad, or could be improved. If it gives you an idea to improve your map or make another map, then great.

I thank you for motivating me. I hope to see some more offset maps that kick the shit out of mine.

P.S. Sorry I didn't make my map offset to the left. I should have to make it farther apart than yours. My bad.
