And why get the Zalman CPU cooler?

For that CPU, try the Venus 12

Fee has this one, and we discussed it in an earlier hardware thread.
Both cool nicely, but the Venus 12 cools just a bit better

the Alien's seem lovely, but I wouldn't be too sure about the PSU /o\

Dunno anything about it, although I guess the wires should have good length for the case *duh* and 500 Watt (be it peak or true) should always be enough, let's just hope it lives long enough $\o/$
Have you checked the amount (if any?) of SATA connections etc.?

Zalman is better than the Venus but don't bother getting the copper, not worth the extra weight. Get the al-cu version, only about 2 degrees different. If you want the ultimate in CPU air cooling though get the Coolermaster Hyper6, although it is huge and ways about 1kg.

The VGA silencer is a very good choice. Quieter that the stock cooler, will lower your cards temp and expel the heat out of the case.

Your RAM choice is strange, I'd go for either the Corsair 3200XL (which performs better and is cheaper than 3200LL) if you don't plan on overclocking or OCZ 3500/3700 EB if you want to overclock. You also might want to check out Crucial's new Ballistix range of high performance RAM. It has similar specs to the RAM previously mentioned but is a lot cheaper. It's very new though so there hasn't been any reviews of it yet.

I'm not sure how good the MSI mobo is, I've heard differing reports on it. Seems the BIOS isn't as solid as it could be. Maybe look into the ABIT KV8 pro if you don't mind going the VIA route.

I'd go for a Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 over the Western Digital as it's both quieter and faster.

You will definately want to buy a PSU, the supplies that come with cases are of VERY poor quality. I'd get either an Antec 480w Truepower or if money is no object, a PC Power and Cooling 510 ATX Deluxe. The PCPC 510 is really the best PSU money can buy but maybe a bit overkill for your needs?

The RAM has leet leds o/
This will by my third MSI mobo, and i have never had any problems with them.
The shop i'm getting my stuff doesn't have a Hitachi 200 gig x_X does have 400 gig tho O_O
The PSU is definatly not wrong, it's a Levicam X-Alien 500w :O Why do you think the case is that expensive?

Oh and Messy, yes i've checked Pricewatch a zillion times, and this shop is pretty cheap on all the things i want. I don't wanna order the stuff at a billion different shops.
There is nothing special about the keyboard, just need a new one

The PSU has 1 SATA connection, but i will get some ata to sata connectors.

and too pricey for me. i would get 1 from the shop for 800(where fuck is my euros key) which is a 3.0, then u can upgrade it more

Ok, go for the 3200LL then. It's slower but what the hell. You do know you can get 3200XL Pro modules with LEDs right?

The mobo is fine but the BIOS on it sucks. I'm sure they will update it so it works well though.

Shame you can't get the Hitachi, the Western Digital is good though, I have one myself.

Sounds like a cheap generic PSU to me. The wattage rating means nothing when talking about power supplies. A PC Power and Cooling 350w unit would probably provide more power with A LOT less current ripple than that 500w PSU but what the hey huh?

Do you actually know who makes that PSU? Is it a Fortron, Topower or somthing? It could well turn out to be made by Deer. lol jk
Really, you should do more research into it, it might be OK.

You don't want to use thermal adhesive with a CPU cooler by the way, baaaad idea. Fine for northbridge coolers though.

the non LED version on the ram you want would be a better idea and save you a bit of cash, especially if you went for 2x256 for dual channel (which I believe the nForce3 250 supports, maybe i'm wrong).

ake sure tha CPU you are buying is the 320+ with the 1MB L2 cache or its a ripoff... Although the L2 doesn't mean too much now, it will be nice to have a large one when 64-bit applications start to come around.

But if he gets the Clawhammer (1MB) instead of the Newcastle (512KB) core it is very likely that he will end up with the older C0 stepping instead of the CG stepping. The CG stepping has a much improved memory controller that elliminates the C0 cores problems with double sided dimms, among other things.

As I've said above, the AMD64s have on-board memory controllers so it is not a case of the board supporting dual-channel. s754 AMD64s only support single-channel memory. You'd need the MUCH more expensive s939 for dual-channel (which only provides a miniscule performance boost anyway).

The CG stepping also overclocks a LOT higher. If you can find a CG Clawhammer go for it though (and tell me where you got it

).

I agree with Crip about the LEDs. What do you want them for?

Why would you say the Venus is worse than the Zalman?

I've read some reviews, and the Venus 12 definitely seems better, what is it that would make it worse though?
