Why would you want to host in your dorm room?

I have a really fast connection in my room, and it never seems like there are any good USA servers.

http://www.unrealadmin.org has mucho guidance and tutorials a plenty. It will help you get an idea of all that is involved in serving UT to the grateful masses.

UT2004 has BDB's mapvote built-in. If you want UT2Vote, get it here: http://www.unrealza.co.za/proasm/ And if you need any help with it, just let me know.

If you plan on hosting with the maching you also play on (aka: a listen server), you will not be able to enable the voicechat. Voice only works on dedicated servers.

Should you decide that your bandwidth and computer resources are best kept for yourself, I suggest you support the heck out of the servers that are already out there. I have two Deathball servers that I spend more than a bit of time tweaking to keep the sport alive and well in NA. They are in my sig..

You can open 2x UT2K4? Never tried.

Last time i tried to host a ded' server it was an accident and UT (99) minimised to my icon tray and sed it was running a dedicated server - which was nice.

I live to serve...

And while yes, you can host and play on the same machine with a dedicated server thread running as well as a client.. keep in mind that the cpu requirements are a very high on vehicle games. If you want to get it on with ONS, the pass on my ut2k4 server is always "bud", so feel free to invite whomever you like to meet ya there. Pub/Priv voice is fully enabled, and with UT2Vote, you can set up the whole thing any way you like. (well, except node pathing..)

When I start my server with Mapvote it just keeps on restarting the server every 5 seconds or so. Any idea why?
